Something to think about...

Been listening to some Internet broadcasts and I've come across some commercials promoting the sale of "confirmed leads" for other businesses to use.

So every time I keep on hearing this commercial I cannot help but wonder if these are where the telemarketing people and the spam-senders and the junk fax senders get their information from. These parasites needed to get their information from somewhere.

How many of these "confirmed leads" come from those stupid "you could win a car" contests in the mall? How many are from the store clerk asking you for your phone number? How many are from the banks you have credit card accounts with? How many are from the store "value membership" cards you fill out? How many come from "pretexting"? How many come from spammers and telemarketers?

The point I'm making is this... there is so much information about us out there today, and it's used by companies without our knowledge and without our approval, and they're making big bucks off that knowledge about us. And the reason why these parasites and the companies that employ them are able to sleep at night is because they see harassing us as securing a "sales lead". THAT is why businesses are so willing to work with spammers and telemarketers and why they will fight any attempt to keep their prying eyes off our lives.
