Brutally Honest - LIVE! - 09/02/13 - Show Notes

Is it true?  Will David 2 be WORKING on LABOR DAY?

Well, yes...

Working ON THIS SHOW!

I have to, because there is something very important that I want to talk to you about concerning the future of this program.

Some people already know what this is, and if you are one of them, please DO NOT BE A DICK!

But because we are talking about Labor Day, I figured this would be a great time to talk about LABOR.. for what it is worth.

There are people protesting fast food restaurants to demand a hike in the minimum wage.  Billionaire CEO of McDonald's responds by whining about how it would skyrocket the cost of fast food, although doesn't talk about the profits they make and how they came up with a pompous and unrealistic McBudget for those minimum wage workers that actually tells those overworked and underpaid workers that they must get a second job in order to meet the unrealistic McBudget.

Believe me, I'll have something to say when my column comes out on Monday, but what I want to know is what you think of the subject.

Be sure to tune in THIS MONDAY (09/02), right here on ShockNet Radio at 8pm Eastern (7pm Central and 5pm Pacific) over at www.shocknetradio.com and also at Apple's iTunes Radio Player under the "Classic Rock" category.

And don't forget that I'll be in the "BH LIVE" chatroom at www.shocknetradio.com during the show to discuss the subject LIVE, and I'll be taking your calls toll-free in the U.S. and Canada at 866-400-6684

Oh, and by the way, if you like what you hear, if you enjoy the conversations and rants, then tell your friends about the show and have them tune in as well!

Brutally Honest - LIVE! - 08/26/13 - Show Notes

First, I want to apologize for last Monday's cancellation.

In order to do these broadcasts I need two computers.  The first computer handles the live connection between Get Brutal Productions and with ShockNet Radio itself.  The second computer handles all the sound effects and the chatroom.  A few months back, I lost the monitor for my second computer. So I turned to "Old Reliable", my original bulky 19" CRT monitor. Then that died, so I was out the audio PC.  I managed to set up a workaround with my laptop, which did a superb job these past few weeks... until last weekend when the display died.

Fortunately I was able to get a new monitor for my audio PC, so it is back and running... but I do miss my laptop.

Anyway, on with the show!

This week I have another two-fer discussion subject. BALLMER and BATMAN!

First, Steve Ballmer, the gruff CEO of Microsoft, has announced he is stepping down in the next year or so. He seems to think that his biggest failure was with Windows Vista, but was that really the case? How about their XBox Live with the forced DRM junk? How about MS Surface and the dancing morons? I'm sure a lot of listeners are Microsoft users in one way or another, so I'm wondering what you think of the Post-Bill-Gates Microsoft. Do you like where they are heading? What should they do? Can they recover? SHOULD they recover?

Then there's BATMAN! Or is it BatFLECK? Ben Affleck has agreed to be Batman for the Man of Steel sequel, working with Henry Cavil as Superman and Bryan Cranston (from AMC's "Breaking Bad") as Lex Luthor. This would supposedly be a multi-picture project, with Affleck and Cranston crossing over into other DC movies much like Clark Gregg and Samuel L. Jackson did for Marvel's movies. But is does the Oscar-winning director have what it takes to take over from Christian Bale? Are we talking another surprise like Michael Keaton, or would he be another George Clooney? And why should we even be making this kind of fuss?

That's what up for discussion... and if one subject dominates over the other, then at least I could bring the other subject back the following week.

One more thing: there is a certain announcement that has been going around regarding the future of this program on ShockNet Radio. The staff here is well aware of this announcement and we will formally address it on the Labor Day program.  For those of you who already know what it is, I would ask that you please be patient for one more week before peppering me with questions about it, okay?

Be sure to tune in THIS MONDAY (08/26), right here on ShockNet Radio at 8pm Eastern (7pm Central and 5pm Pacific) over at www.shocknetradio.com and also at Apple's iTunes Radio Player under the "Classic Rock" category.

No Show For Monday - 08/19/13

Regretfully we will have to cancel this week's broadcast of "Brutally Honest - LIVE!"

Over the weekend we suffered the loss of our audio computer's display, which is essential for the show, and we will not be able to get a replacement in time for this week's show.

However, we hope that you will continue to enjoy all the great programming that ShockNet Radio provide this week, including "The Rock & Roll Diner" this Tuesday night with CA Wood, and "Hard Luck Chuck's Juke Joint" on Friday night with Hard Luck Chuck (aka "2BuckChuck" on our show). Both shows are at 8pm ET, 7pm CT.

AND hopefully we will be back on the air NEXT Monday at our usual time of 8pm ET, 7pm CT, to go over everything social, political, in-your-face, and BRUTALLY HONEST.

Brutally Honest - LIVE! - 08/12/13 - Show Notes

Remember Court TV?

That's the cable channel that was supposed to be all about court cases.  Every kind of court case you can get, from OJ Simpson to the local murder cases, were discussed.  Obviously the Supreme Court decisions played a role with them as well.

Well Court TV pretty much died in 2008 when it was "re-branded" as "TruTV" and began running mindless programming.  Oh, wait, they were doing that back in 2004.

Anyway, Court TV may be dead, but why does it seem like its ghost lives on through other channels?

Daytime television is still apparently fixated on certain court cases, from Casey Anthony to George Zimmerman, and everyone wants to dissect the proceedings.  Hundreds of so-called "legal experts" and thousands of armchair consultants all break down each and every action in the case, second-guessing testimony and legal tactics and trying to read the minds of the players. And it's apparently working, or else people like Nancy Grace and Greta Van Sustren would be virtual nobodies.

So the discussion subject for this week is all about the Court of Television. Should there BE one? Should we BE second-guessing the proceedings?

And WHAT KIND of trials should we be looking at? Here in Atlanta, we have the perjury trial of Andrea Sneiderman versus the corruption trial of Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill.  Sex-Lies-and-Murder versus Politicians-Gone-Wild... you can guess which one the media here is fixated on. But are they fixated on the WRONG case? I want to know what you think about this whole thing!

Be sure to tune in THIS MONDAY (08/12), right here on ShockNet Radio at 8pm Eastern (7pm Central and 5pm Pacific) over at www.shocknetradio.com and also at Apple's iTunes Radio Player under the "Classic Rock" category.

Brutally Honest - LIVE! - 08/05/13 - Show Notes

So you probably heard about all the CHATTER that Homeland Security picked up. All the CHATTER that tells Americans they need to BE AFRAID, be REALLY AFRAID, especially if they're overseas.

The embassies have to be shut down over the weekend... GOTTA BE CAREFUL! And now it has to be the whole week. Sucks to be an American abroad and you need the help of the local embassy, huh?

Because of the CHATTER, don't you know? It's all about the CHATTER.

Or is it something else? Makes you wonder, huh? Homeland Security admits losing track of A MILLION visitors, don't know if they're still here. TSA workers are sleeping on the job. Edward Snowden got his asylum in Russia. FBI going after people who Google a certain kind of kitchenware. Is it really about a little Bush-era tactic to bring the masses back under the mattresses?

Well let's have our own little CHATTER about it... on the digital airwaves, of course!

Be sure to tune in THIS MONDAY (08/05), right here on ShockNet Radio at 8pm Eastern (7pm Central and 5pm Pacific) over at www.shocknetradio.com and also at Apple's iTunes Radio Player under the "Classic Rock" category.
