Just a random thought...

This is just me rambling off right now, but I am NOT a fan of Blogger's attempt to "update" the services.

This is all part of Google's master assimilation plan to get Gmail and Blogger and YouTube all the other online ducks lined in a row for them, and quite frankly, IT SUCKS.

I've tried the "updated Blogger interface" when it came to posting things, and I hate it. For starters, all of the HTML that I do - and bear in mind I've been doing this for over sixteen years now - IS SCRAPPED in the new interface. Original HTML had normal paragraph breaks. You didn't have to hit enter a second time. Here, you have to.

It's bad enough that Microsoft DEMANDS that I incorporate a ton of needless code when I put the article together as part of their Word programs. It's worse when Google then takes the code I already have and scraps it for their own.

Come on guys, do I REALLY have to move everything else to Wordpress?

I don't mind the new Gmail interface other the fact that it's BLAND. Even when you put so-called "themes" into it, it's BLAND.

And YouTube? You know, I put a lot of time and effort into designing those channels that you just TRASHED so you can have your shopping receipt-style list. How about I go into YOUR house and rearrange all YOUR belongings? Think that would be "helpful"?

I wouldn't mind so much if there was the OPTION to update, but much like so many corporate entities, Google pompously believes THEY know what's right for all of us, and they don't CARE if things WORK, only that they incorporate some executive's demented vision of what looks nice.

Okay, enough rambling... back to working on a radio show.

Sixteen Years Ago Today...

Sixteen years ago today, the weekly column we know today as "Brutally Honest" was created.

Of course it wasn't known as "Brutally Honest" at first. It had a hastily-done banner from a proposed newsletter for its title. It was initially a repository of articles that I submitted to newspapers that didn't get published, but once those ran out, I began doing regular weekly articles for the website.

Sadly, the hosting company was AOL, and they ditched their hosting serves a few years ago, but the articles are still available for you to go through.

I'm going to have more to say about this on Monday's broadcast of "Brutally Honest on ShockNet Radio" (8pm ET, 7pm CT), but for now, Happy Sweet Sixteen!

Post-Show Thoughts - 03/26

Think I was kidding about that Etch-A-Sketch bit on my show? Here's mine! And yes, I was holding it my hand as I went over the Article of the Week!

Oh, and GOTTA LOVE the ShockNet computer for picking "New World Man" as the song before my show! That was one of the original lead-in songs back in the original Talk Liberty incarnation! What a pleasant treat!

Special greeting goes out to my fellow City of Comic Creators member TechSpider for joining in tonight's show for the first time. Last week I had Sin Stalker, and this week it's TechSpider. Maybe next week I can have either Night Hornet or maybe Major Dees. Hey pretty soon I can justify talking RJ into doing a Comic-Themed show!!!

Well it was a very good show, even if my voice started to get a little raw at the end. (D@mned pollen!) Still caught myself making a few flubs, but I hope folks won't get PO'd over them.

And for those still waiting for the archive from last week... will try again in a bit to get that uploaded. Ourmedia and Internet Archive are having issues, so hopefully those will be fixed.
