I really hate it when someone is propped up as being an idol when they really shouldn't be.
Tim Tebow quickly comes to mind. The media decided he should be this "superstar" when really he wasn't, and then the religious groups joined in and treated him as a "martyr" when anyone questioned his new "idol" status.
Thankfully he's more or less neutralized as a phony idol, but that hasn't stopped people from propping up other so-called "idols".
From the left we have the recently-deceased Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez, now propped up as a phony saint simply by dying.
And from the right we have Senator Rand Paul, for staging a 13-hour traditional filibuster over the confirmation of a new CIA Director over the White House policy on drones, now being propped up as an "idol" even by some libertarians, even though he has previously trashed libertarians for what they believe in.
But should they really be given the "idol" treatment? You'll hear what I have to say, then I want to know what you the Internet listeners think! CALL IN DURING THE SHOW!
