On "Summer Break" until July 8th

Just wanted to remind the listeners to "Brutally Honest - LIVE!" that there will not be a show this week as the studio is on summer break.

We will be back on July 8th with our usual combination of commentary, chat discussions, and listener phone calls.

Meanwhile, enjoy the week, try to stay cool, and check back here on July 4th for a little classic production suitable for the holiday.

FYI #1: Concerning the Archive, as of 6/22, Ourmedia is still having problems with user accounts.  Once we are able to resolve this problem I will be able to get the archives going again.

FYI #2: There WILL NOT be a show on July 1st as we will take a brief Summer Break to enjoy the July 4th festivities, although I will probably be spending the down time working on an alternative to Ourmedia's continued Obama-level failure because it has been FAR TOO LONG for this to be excusable!

Now that those have been taken care of, let's talk about Monday's show...

The GOP has been playing this game of late... they CLAIM to be concerned about economic issues when they're not in Washington. They're always BITCHING about how the economy needs to be taken care of and how things suck for people... and they are. But then they go back to Washington, and rather than deal WITH those economic issues, they decide to turn around and deal with SOCIAL issues. More precisely, they want to impose the dictatorial fascistic laws that only the EXTREMISTS want enacted.

And the economy? Well that only comes up when people want to talk ABOUT those fascistic social issues.

Yes, it's a sick and twisted game designed to only benefit them... so the question I want to hear from you about is... why do YOU let it go on? These two-faced hypocrites ARE supposed to represent YOU, right?

So if you had to pick a general subject - Social or Economic - which one do YOU want these grifters and shysters to focus on?

We've got a few "hot issues" for this new "Season of Faux Patriotism", don't we? We have the IRS and their perceived "abuses". Then we have the NSA and the "sudden revelation" that they have been grabbing ALL phone calls in their hunt for "bad guys". And by "sudden revelation", we're talking about something that's been going on for almost ten years now. So we have that and the larger issue of privacy that we have to wonder how much data is out there about us.

And what I want to know is... what do YOU think about this stuff?  CALL IN!

We've talked about the GOP in the past. I used to be a card-carrying member of the GOP before the extremists made it clear that true freedom-loving libertarians like myself were not welcomed there. I rag on the GOP, I complain about their tactics and their pompous self-righteous self-serving hypocritical stances, I call them out for being everything evil in the world...

And I'm not the only one doing this! There are plenty of people that have picked apart the GOP for their actions. The "Party of Lincoln" has become the "Party of Mussolini", and that change has come back to hurt them in two presidential elections now.

But is there anything that can be done to change it? Can the "Party of Mussolini" come back to being the "Party of Lincoln"?

There are some that think the GOP need to be fixed. Former and possibly-future presidential contenders are saying that the GOP MUST change in order for it to survive, never mind win the 2016 Election.

But can they? Or is it too late?

Before we get going I need to mention that we are still having problems with the Ourmedia component of our archives. We cannot upload the previous shows until the folks at Ourmedia get their act together, so when they do, we will put up all of the archives.

Once again we have to play catch-up due to the tornado that swept through the Oklahoma City area.  While the broadcast facilities were thankfully not affected, it did come close enough for Station Manager RJ Evans to make the call to cancel the show last week.  As such last week's discussion topic will be THIS week's discussion topic. 

It is that time of year when we talk about graduation. Once upon a time only High Schools and Colleges had graduation ceremonies, but today even kindergarteners are having their own ceremonies. And with the colleges and universities, you have "big names" giving commencement speeches to challenge the graduates.

In previous years, I've done my own commencement address to those either going out into the "real world" or those going from one institution to the next. Of course nobody would pay me do give this kind of message, so I wasn't burdened to sugar-goat my advice. And since last week I lambasted the President of the United States for his "do better" speech, I thought I'd turn the speech role to you, the listeners.

Our discussion topic this week will be what advice YOU would give to the Class of 2013. What would you tell them? Would you give them practical advice? Would you give comedic advice? Brutally Honest - LIVE - 05/20/13 Show Cancelled

I must regretfully announce that tonight's broadcast of Brutally Honest - LIVE has to be cancelled due to dangerous weather conditions in the Oklahoma City area.

I have been keeping in touch with RJ Evans, who has access to all of the weather-related feeds and he has been tracking a series of violent supercells headed towards the ShockNet Radio studio.  After viewing the radar information myself, I have to concur with his recommendation to cancel tonight's broadcast given the nature of these supercells and the potential damage they would cause not just studio but also to nearby utilities.  We cannot do a show without electricity, and we cannot guarantee this will be available to us this evening.

The studio will continue to play classic rock this evening as long as there is electricity, and, as far as we know, both the "Rock and Roll Diner" and "Hard Luck Chuck's Juke Joint" will be on at their respective normal time slots this week.

Brutally Honest - LIVE has every intention of being back on the air on Memorial Day at its normal time slot at 8pm ET, 7pm CT.  And hopefully the studio will not be transported to the land of Oz before then.

Again, we regret the cancellation, but the matter is out of our hands at this point.

The chief problem here is the Ourmedia website, which is crucial for iTunes to access the archived shows. The site itself has been down completely for the whole week, and only this week we are getting a webpage notice that it is down due to "technical problems". Once Ourmedia is up we will be able to upload the archived shows, so please be patient with us.

So let's talk about the media...

Yeah, some of them REALLY screwed up during the whole Boston Marathon Bombing.  You had CNN telling people that police had a suspect in custody when they didn't.  The New York Post was pointing the finger at an innocent person.  Movie stars were actually getting named as the bomber!

"What the hell", right?

Well, if you're already a Brutally Honest supporter then you'd know that this isn't the first time that the air-fluffed ego-driven media screwed up and started going after innocent people!  In fact, almost seventeen years ago to this date, the media thought they had another bomber named, only to find they went after not only an innocent person, but someone who was credited for SAVING lives.

It doesn't appear that the media learned from those lessons, did they?

Well that's the subject for this week's discussion: The liability of the Media!

Maybe THAT'S why we couldn't do a show last week, huh? Maybe "the Media did it"?
