Brutally Honest on ShockNet - 08/08/09 Show Notes

Every so often something will come up that will just hit me where it hurts... this week, I have two subjects that did that.

First, if you're a friend of the Bunny (and you know what I'm talking about), I have a special comment about its plight and what it needs to do to get back its glory.  Then we have a blast from the Brutally Honest past... and then something that happened this past week that REALLY hits me where it hurts.  What is it?  You'll just have to tune in to find out.

All of that is THIS SATURDAY (08/08) here on ShockNet Radio at 7pm Eastern Time (6pm Norman time and 4pm Hefner Time) over at www.shocknetradio.com and also at Apple's iTunes Radio Player under either "Classic Rock" or "Talk/Spoken Word" categories.

And don't forget that I will also be in the "Brutally Honest" chatroom at www.shocknetradio.com during the show, so I hope to see you there!  We even retooled it so now it's easier to access the chatroom AND hear the show.

TC Restani on Fox 25

TC Restani is the host of the late night cable show "After Hours with TC Restani" in Massachusetts. I know him through a common friend (you'll find out who in a second). He was recently interviewed by Fox 25 in Boston and put up the video on his YouTube page.

If you look carefully in the clips they air, you'll see my friend Jenny Lavoie in there as well. (The guy mistakenly thinks she's Jennifer Gardner... sorry, but my friend Jenny is FAR better!)

Oh, and if you want to see more of my friend Jenny... here's her interview...

Part 1

Part 2

You know us media personalities, we gotta back each other up! Speaking of which, I can't wait until I can get Jenny on my show!

Helping out a couple of friends...

Okay... it's no big secret that I am a friend of a certain Playmate from New Hampshire (there's only one so far), so I get this email from TC Restani, who does a Boston-based interview and variety show, and he asked me if there is any way I could promote the YouTube footage of his two-part interview with Model and Businesswoman Jenny Lavoie. TC would like to make his interview segments the most popular there is, so he asked if there was anything I could do to help.

Hey, from one media personality to another, why not?

Here's part 1 of his interview with Jenny...

And here's Part 2...

And if you want more I have a full playlist set up of some of her other YouTube appearances. (Don't worry, they don't show anything beyond PG!)

Hope this helps, TC!

BREAKING NEWS: COPA is UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

This just came in this evening… A federal appeals court has struck down the latest federal censorship law, declaring it to be, like its predecessor, grossly UNCONSTITUTIONAL!

The Child Online Protection Act, better known by its abbreviation of COPA, is the bad sequel to the Communications Decency Act, which was passed by Republican theocrats and signed into law by a Democrat Narcissist. This would outlaw any material online that children COULD access that would be deemed “harmful to minors”. The only way a website operator would be protected would be if they set up a commercial subscription service that would require validation by merely a credit card.

I’m going to have a lot more about this on my show this weekend, but I just wanted to say that I’m glad this decision came out the way that it did.

RIP: Anna Nicole Smith

I’m shocked to hear that Playmate of the Year Anna Nicole Smith has died yesterday.

To say that Anna had some problems in her life is something of an understatement. Sure she went from local heartbreaker to ultra-curvy model to billionaire widow in the span of just a decade, but at the same time she had to go more than her fair share of twists and turns. Her real life was cast on the short-lived TV reality series as pretty much a freak show. She seemed to be constantly on something. Her in-laws moved heaven and earth to block her from getting one penny of her late husband’s money. She lost her son around the same time that she gave birth to a daughter whose parentage is in question. And then she married her attorney for… whatever reason. If you didn’t know who she was, you’d think that she was a soap opera character.

Now as some of you know, I have the pleasure to call several Playboy Playmates as friends. I can tell you that most of the Playmates that I’ve met, and especially those who are my friends, aren’t like that. They live normal lives and work for a living. One of my Playmate friends often talks about how she lives the “glamorous life” by vacuuming and spending the weekend repainting the rooms in her house. They really are the “girls next door”… or at least the girls you wish lived next door.

I’ve never met Anna, and as strange as it may sound, there’s a part of me that’s sort of glad that I didn’t. She may have helped brought back curves to the modeling world, but at the same time she also reinforced the stereotype of the ditsy blonde beauty. Still, it is a waste that her life would end so early, especially not long after giving birth to a little girl.
